The Challenge
The application needed a specific pinout and form factor that required a custom ESP32 module design.
The Solution
Bare ESP32 chip with external flash, PCB trace antenna, and JST connectors for battery and peripherals. Only the GPIOs and peripherals the application needs are broken out, keeping the board compact. The antenna is tuned for the specific enclosure material (ABS), accounting for the dielectric effect on the match.
Results
Runs standard ESP-IDF firmware. The antenna tuning and compact layout are optimized for the final product enclosure.
